How does CORTIBLOC work?
CortiBloc™ is a unique natural cortisol suppressant that can help with weight loss and regulate cortisol and blood sugar metabolism.
The active ingredient in CortiBloc™ is emodin, an andraquinone compound isolated primarily from the roots and rhizomes of Polygonum cuspitatum that acts as an 11βhydroxysteroid dehydrogenase1 (11β-HSD1) inhibitor.
This enzyme, found in the liver and fat cells, converts cortisone (an inactive glucocorticoid) into cortisol (the active form).
   
Glucocorticoids, such as cortisol, can have harmful effects on the body when levels become too high.
Studies have shown that elevated levels of glucocorticoids, such as cortisol, can inhibit glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and lead to adiposity, obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes.
Cortisol, produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress, is good in small amounts at appropriate times.
However, long-term increased levels can cause serious health problems, as mentioned above.
Emodin can stop the increase in cortisol levels at the exact source.
Emodin is a selective inhibitor of 11β-HSD1, but not 11β-HSD2, which is found in the kidney.
Inhibition of this enzyme can have important health effects, including alterations in sodium/potassium absorption/excretion, excess mineralocorticoid accumulation, aldosterone suppression, and effects on kidney function.
 
Emodin inhibits 11β-HSD1, blocking the transfer of hydroxide from NADP to cortisone for cortisol production at the enzyme site.
Studies have shown that emodin inhibits this enzyme (11β-HSD1) by up to 46% in adipose tissue (fat cells), indicating that the body is producing only about half the amount of cortisol it normally does.
This may lead to fat loss, stress reduction, reduced insulin resistance, and increased insulin sensitivity.
Additionally, emodin reduced fasting blood glucose levels by 77% after oral administration for 7 days, and also reduced overall plasma insulin levels by 66% relative to the control group.
Another study demonstrated that emodin reduced appetite and body weight in rats (13.9% weight loss).

As you can see, emodin is a very powerful ingredient in suppressing cortisol and insulin-induced weight gain.
Unfortunately, oral bioavailability is very low.
To address this issue, we added a high dose of piperine, commonly known as black pepper extract.
In studies combining piperine and emodin, a significant increase in bioavailability was observed through inhibition of glucuronidation.
This is the process by which glucose molecules attach to emodin, making it more water-soluble and easier to excrete from the body.
By stopping this process, piperine allows for maximum absorption of emodin and inhibits cortisol formation, helping you reach and exceed your weight loss goals.
